All competitions are now being judged during our Saturday workshops. If you can't get to a workshop but can come to the Tuesday evening session earlier in the month, please drop your competition entry off then
, wrapped safely and bagged with your name and membership number inside the bag.

The Novices' and Intermediates' entries will be judged and points awarded by appointed experienced members in the first hour of the workshop. They will be looking at design, turning skill and finishing qualities and will later be happy to provide valuable tips on all these.

The Advanced entries will then be judged by votes from the members present who care to take part.  All results will be announced later in the session. All members present will then be invited to handle, compare, discuss, enjoy and learn from the skills shown.

As previously, the top three entries in each section will be awarded 6, 4 and 2 points, all others 1 point. NOTE that new entrants will earn raffle tickets just by entering.

Mentoring

The club has started a "Mentor" scheme for new members and novice turners. Here is the list of club members willing to act as mentors, giving contact details and the area they live.

All new members and novices, and anyone wanting to learn from a specific expert is invited to contact the volunteer mentor directly.

Similarly, if any of our advanced turners wish to join the scheme as mentors, please add your details to the list by telling or emailing Chris Lusby Taylor clusbytaylor@gmail.com.
